Chromosome analysis plays a vital role in determining the cause of many Genetic disorders. Chromosomal abnormalities account significantly for the etiology of mental retardation, congenital anomalies, primary amenorrhea, repeated abortions, sterility, bad obstetrics etc.

Cell Biology deals with :

  • Diagnostic services for chromosomal disorders using conventional and molecular cytogenetic methods.
  • Karyotyping with G and C banding techniques
  • FISH  for lymphocyte and amniotic fluid cells
  • Spectral Karyotyping analysis for detection of chromosomal abnormalities in cancers.

So far more than 18,000 cases have been analyzed for chromosomal abnormalities.
